Humans and Earth are dependent off of animals, without them we simply wouldn’t exist, so why are humans killing innocent animals for their own selfish needs? An estimated one hundred million animals have been killed in the US that was used in laboratories for chemicals, drug, food, and cosmetic testing. This is the number that is estimated every year, these animals that were killed were mice, dogs, cats, rabbits, monkeys, birds, etc. Imagine your pet cat or dog being used for a test to determine whether or not it was safe for a human. It isn’t fair for an animal to be used as a thing. Animals feel pain and sadness too and to end one of their lives for our own needs just doesn’t seem fair to end a live that way. With the research and technology that we have today there must be another way to test these products without having to take the life on innocent animals.

Although animals testing kills many animals each year, that isn’t the only reason animals are being killed. “Each year, thousands of young and healthy Greyhounds are killed because they lack racing potential or have been injured while racing and are no longer competitive.” Those greyhounds could have made a great pet and a family really happy. You don’t see parents killing their children because they don’t meet up to their standards, it’s not morally right. A dog that lacks in racing potential does not deserve to die. They can’t help themselves, especially if they were injured. There should be laws against the killing of innocent animals. Killing any animals should not be permitted unless they are harmful or are carrying any diseases.

Lastly, animals should be kept in their natural habitat. Many animals that are taken directly from their native habitat cause stress to the animals and they die prematurely. If we raise animals in a manmade habitat then those animals will most likely survive because they haven’t been exposed to any other environment. Killing animals for our own selfish needs may seem to be the quickest and easiest way to get what we need, but it’s most certainly not the answer. We can find other ways to test our products, find homes for dogs that lack racing abilities, and raise animals in manmade habitats.
